The Concord
Wal-Mart hosted its first annual car show to benefit the
Childrens' Miracle Network on Saturday May 28. The show
area ran right down the middle of the parking lot from the
building to the far end. There were show cars, race car
displays, activities, and booths with samples of refreshing
products from ice cream to soft drinks. All of this attracted
a lot of attention from shoppers coming and going all day.
Three different bands played music through the day and FOAC's
own Gary Walter provided DJ services in between. Car registrations,
auctions, sales, and donations added up to a lot of money
raised for the Childrens' Miracle Network.
There were ten Fords registered
at the show -- more than any other type -- and five of them
were owned by FOAC members. Present were Gary and Betty
Walter, Janet Stancil, Brian Stancil, Alton Allman, and
Steve Silsby.
Best in show was won by
Bobby Bonds of Concord for his beautiful 69 Camaro SS. The
people's choice trophy went to Alton Allman for his gorgeous
blue 2003 Mustang GT convertible. The manager's choice trophy
went to Steve Silsby for his 1967 F-100 short bed. Everyone
had a great time with fun, food, cars, music, and dancing.
We're all looking forward to the second annual Wal-Mart
show.
