The weather was bad, but the turnout was great at the 9th Annual Blue Oval Classic, held on May 4th at Mooresville Ford. Over 200 registered vehicles came from at least 4 states to be part of one of the best All Ford Motor Company Vehicle Shows in the Southeast. Literally over 90 years of Ford history was on display, ranging from a 1922 Model T (still owned by the family that bought it new) to a 2013 Mustang that still had its temporary license tag attached.
Every decade from that Model T to that new Mustang was represented at the show. Unrestored originals. Hot rods. Customs. Muscle Cars. Stocks. Cars. Trucks. Fords. Lincolns. Mercurys. Shelbys. Saleens. Cobras. NASCAR’s David Ragan’s Mayberry Sheriff’s Car. The very first Glasstop Crown Victoria. Marauders. Pintos. Fairlanes. Galaxies. Every generation of Mustangs. They were all at the Blue Oval Classic.
There was a wide variety of vendors, including all 77 feet of Ford’s official merchandise tractor-trailer. The tunes played all day, and there were many high-quality door prizes and 50/50 prizes given away. And around 100 trophies and awards were presented…..an hour earlier than scheduled!
All of the work paid off as the Ford Owners Association of the Carolinas will soon make a sizable donation to Dove House Children’s Advocacy Center.
Thanks to all who helped produce the show, and those who participated in the show. We’ll see you at the 10th Annual Blue Oval Classic, tentatively scheduled for the first Saturday in May, 2014, at Mooresville Ford.
